an exhibit of artists' pet portratis to benefit our
Avery Humane Society
We are raising funds to provide basic needs for the Avery
County Humane Shelter...things are improving for the shelter,
as animals that are turned in to this organization no longer
have to be "deposited" in an abandoned bus. In fact,
the bus has been removed from the premises as of the time of
this posting. There is, however, always room for improvement.
This program is an open hanging of artworks from any age and
skill level which feature any sort of pet or animal themes. 100%
of the entry fees go directly to the Avery Humane Society. "Pet
Portraits" to be judged for the grand prize Wildflowers
Prepress Package should be delivered either to Purveyors
of Art & Design in Boone or Art
Cellar Gallery in Banner Elk by 4 pm on Saturday Sept 8.
Artists wishing to help out the cause, but not wishing to enter
the contest may donate artworks of any animal-related theme for
the silent auction, and non-artistic yet interested people can
contribute by bidding on the auction works, buying works that
are for sale, or simply writing great big checks and depositing
them in the rather large fish bowl that will be located in the
Art Cellar Gallery during the event. Special thanks to Pam and
Mike McKay, Liz Brown and Cheryl Crocker at the Art
Cellar Gallery for all their help in this worthwhile endeavor!
The entry fee for this exhibit will be a $15 donation to the
Humane Society. Pet portraits will be exhibited at the Art
Cellar fine art gallery located in in Banner Elk, NC. Reception
for the artists is September 15, 2007 5-7 pm. Wildflowers Prepress
packages will be awarded to our top three winning artists by
our special guest jurors.
